Research Interest
I have diverse research interests but a common thread is the role of animal behavior in evolutionary processes. Currently I am especially interested in understanding how aggression between species shapes the evolution of signaling systems. I employ some theoretical modeling in my research, but I am primarily an empiricist. Whenever possible I study animals in their natural environment. Recent study systems include insects, lizards, fishes, and birds.
